Celebrating the Success of HOPE’s Inaugural Fund

In a landmark achievement for HOPE and its mission to make homeownership a reality for Australia’s essential workers, the organisation proudly announces the closing of subscriptions to its inaugural fund. HOPE’s first fund, the HOPE Housing Investment Trust (Fund 1), has exceeded expectations, not only delivering market beating returns to investors but also transforming the lives of families, communities, and employers.

June 30 Results: Growth, Impact, and Social Dividends

The portfolio assets in HOPEs inaugural fund have outperformed the market, delivering an impressive 12.2%(A) growth rate for the year ending June 30, 2024, compared to the broader Sydney market’s 6.3%(B) growth for the same period. But these financial results tell only part of the story. The true impact lies in the lives changed: the essential workers who have found stability and hope through homeownership, thanks to the innovative shared equity model implemented by HOPE. The success of Fund 1 is not just measured in numbers but in the social dividend it has yielded, providing essential workers with opportunities they never thought possible.

As Fund 1 closes for new applications on October 19th, 2024, the launch of HOPE Housing Residential Property Trust (Fund 2), an open-ended “Evergreen” structure, ensures that this vital work will continue. Fund 2 aims to support more than 3,000 essential workers on their journey to homeownership, building on the momentum of Fund 1 and paving the way for a brighter future for Australia’s essential workforce.

A Vision of HOPE and Impact

Tim Buskens, CEO of HOPE Housing, reflects on this milestone – “Our inaugural fund has proven that the shared equity model isn’t just viable – it’s a game changer. With the trust and support of our foundation investors, we’ve delivered more than just returns; we’ve provided a lifeline to those who keep our communities running. These are the people who care for us, protect us, and keep our cities moving, and now they can finally build more secure futures for themselves and their families. This is just the beginning. Fund 1 has laid the groundwork, and with Fund 2, we will continue to push boundaries, expand our reach, and create lasting impact across the country. Together, we’re not only growing wealth but also building stronger, more resilient communities.”

As HOPE Housing looks to the future with Fund 2 now open, we invite forward-thinking investors to join our transformative movement, making a meaningful difference while achieving superior financial returns.

(A)   Portfolio growth is determined by estimating market value of the properties within Fund 1’s portfolio monthly, using CoreLogic IntelliVal (Automated Valuation Estimate) and PropTrack AVM. The change in total portfolio value is indexed from a base value of 100, established at the inception of Fund 1’s portfolio, to account for the addition of new properties during the same period. The 12-month growth represents the cumulative growth over the prior four quarters. The portfolio growth information does not take into account liabilities or expenses of Fund 1 and therefore may not reflect overall Fund 1 performance.
